There are four reasons I have selected Tracey Welson-Rossman as my first woman of the week:
1. When I moved to Philadelphia I knew no one. Tracey was was the first person to open her rolodex and believe in me. By giving me names of investors to contact she helped put me on a path of success. It wasn’t just names and numbers, she was proactive in arranging presentation slots at events. What amazed me was that she wanted nothing in return. Her desire, as I have learned, is to help people achieve.
2. Tracey founded a nonprofit group called TechGirlz. I have experienced first-hand how hard it is to find women UX developers, and other technology based employees. The mission of TechGirlz is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the gender gap in computer technology occupations. One of the ways the group does this is by fostering mentorships between young girls in the Philadelphia community and successful women in tech in the area. I am honored to be a teacher at TechGirlz each July.
3. Tracey was one of the founders of the now annual held Philly Women in Tech Summit. The event inspires, educates and connects women in the technology industry from the Philadelphia region.
4. I am wowed by Tracey’s “day job” as the founding member and CMO of Chariot Solutions, a leading Philadelphia company specializing in software and app development. The company has also been named one of the top places to work in Philadelphia by Philly.com
Tracey is also the proud mom of two boys.
